ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT (BRACES)

Dental braces also known as Orthodontic braces are devices used to align and straighten teeth and help to correct a person's bite, as well as to improve dental health. Braces help to correct space between teeth. They are also used to correct malocclusions, overjet, overbites, open bites, deep bites, cross bites, crooked teeth and various other flaws of the teeth and jaw. Dental braces are often used in conjunction with other orthodontic appliances to help in aligning the teeth and jaws.

Apart from conventional metal braces, we offer orthodontic treatment with ceramic (invisible) braces and lingual braces, we also provide Invisalign aligners and other Myofacial appliances.

METAL BRACES (TRADITIONAL BRACES): Metal braces are the most common type of braces for orthodontic patients. They are made of high quality stainless steel or titanium. The three main part of braces are:

• Brackets: Brackets are attached to the teeth using special materials which bonds them to the tooth surface and hard them in place.

• Archwire: The archwire is the thin metal wire that connects each bracket and puts pressure on the teeth to help guide them into place.

• Ligature Elastics (also known as rubber bands): Elastics, are the coloured ties that hold the archwires to the brackets. They may be changed at each appointment.

Traditional metal braces are still the most popular, quickest and most cost-effective orthodontic treatment available. Today's metal braces are much smaller, flatter and comfortable than in the past.

CERAMIC (INVISIBLE) BRACES: Ceramic braces are the same size and shape as metal braces, except that they have tooth-colored or clear brackets that blend in to teeth. Some even use tooth-coloured wires to be even less noticeable. These type of braces are more expensive than metal braces.

LINGUAL BRACES: Lingual braces are the same as traditional metal braces, except that the brackets and wires are placed on the lingual (inner) side of teeth, thereby making them invisible from outside.

INVISALIGN (CLEAR ALIGNERS): Invisalign is a type of orthodontic device made up of clear plastic wear over teeth to gently align them. A series of 18-30 aligners are customized for individual patients using advanced digital scans. They are worn for 20-22hrs per day for best results. The aligners are removable and are replaced every two weeks. Clear aligners are recommended for the treatment of mild to moderate cases. They are comfortable, easy to clean and do not restrict any food intake.

MYOFUNCTIONAL (MYOFACIAL) APPLIANCES: Myofunctional appliances in orthodontics are removable or fixed appliances which take help from the muscles in facial and neck region to correct dentoalveolar as well as skeletal discrepancies of the upper and lower jaws.
